Catch all of the latest Arsenal news, including updates on Declan Rice, Ben White and Thomas Vermaelen’s verdict on Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal are preparing for their final game of the 2024-25 season as they face a trip to Southampton in the Premier League.

It is another season without a trophy for Mikel Arteta following Champions League semi-final heartache and frustration in the domestic competitions.

However, Andrea Berta has been brought into the Emirates Stadium to help with recruitment this summer and provide some much-needed firepower to the Arsenal squad.

So with that said, here’s a look at the latest Arsenal news ahead of another busy day.

Declan Rice hints at future transfer away from Arsenal

Declan Rice has been magnificent for the Gunners this season and club legend Ian Wright believes the midfielder should be named Arsenal’s player of the season.

However, in an interview with Wonderland Magazine, Rice was asked whether he would ever consider leaving the Premier League and move abroad with the England man giving an emphatic answer.

Rice swiftly answered with: “Yes,” leaving fans now even more desperate for a trophy next campaign in order to convince the likes of Rice that he should spend his best years in North London.

Thomas Tuchel explains Ben White England omission

Thomas Tuchel has named his latest England squad with Bukayo Saka and Myles Lewis-Skelly joining Rice in the fold but there was no room for Ben White.

The England boss has explained his omission is down to two reasons – one footballing and one reason out of anyone’s control.

Tuchel explained: “We had a talk and we decided that at the moment this is not the moment – because he will become a father very soon. The baby is due during the camp.”

The other reason was that White is still getting back to full fitness following his knee surgery but Tuchel is keen for the Gunners defender to return to the international scene.

Thomas Vermaelen gives verdict on Mikel Arteta

Former Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has backed Arteta and his side to end their trophy drought next season despite the current disappointment surrounding the club.

Speaking to Sportskeeda via GOAL, Vermaelen stated: “I still strongly believe in that group and in the club itself that again next year it could be challenging again.

“I feel like Arsenal is now year in, year out challenging for trophies and that’s where you want to be and then it’s a matter of just taking it over the line and that’s the next step that Arsenal hopefully can make very soon.”
