Micah Richards says Arsenal are a ‘little bit short’ in one area and need another signing

Arsenal have had a big summer of spending on transfers.

Speaking on Hayters TV, Micah Richards has been discussing Arsenal’s transfer business so far, and he reckons the Gunners are still short in one key area.

Arsenal need another left winger

Richards spoke about Arsenal’s attack and the situation.

According to the pundit, Arsenal are still short down the left wing.

Arsenal have looked at numerous left wingers in recent times, Rodrygo has been linked to Arsenal, while Rafael Leao has been on Arsenal’s radar too.

“And Arsenal bringing in Gyokeres makes them stronger. We’ve been talking about Arsenal for a while now in terms of needing a striker. I still think they’re a little bit short on the left hand side. I think Martinelli is an impact player rather than a starter,” Richards said.

Arsenal’s left wing options analysed

Richards says Arsenal look short on the left wing, but it’s hard to agree with that point of view.

Yes, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard could do better in their respective roles, but the Gunners aren’t necessarily lacking depth in those areas.

Noni Madueke can also play down the left, while Gabriel Jesus is another auxiliary option if needed.

The reality is that the issue here is the fact that Gabriel Martinelli has dipped from his career-best form back in the 2022/23 season that saw him hit double figures in terms of league goals.

Mikel Arteta doesn’t necessarily need to spend millions on a new left winger, instead, he may need to invest time and resources into helping Martinelli get back to his best.
