There’s one notable absentee in Arsenal’s pre-season training camp in Spain — Declan Rice.
The Gunners travelled to La Manga for a camp there before they head out for their tour of Hong Kong and Singapore next week.
Arsenal take on Newcastle United, AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur in the Far East, and all their key players are expected to be on the plane.
What has worried some Arsenal fans, however, is not seeing Rice in the training pictures that have come out of the camp in Spain.
There’s a reason behind his absence.
Why Declan Rice has been left out of Arsenal pre-season training camp in Spain
Declan Rice is one of Arsenal’s most important players.
The Englishman joined the Gunners in a £105 million deal back in the summer of 2023, and he has been brilliant for them.
Rice will once again be key for Arsenal in the 2025/26 season, but the midfielder is currently not with his teammates in Spain.
Football London have revealed that Rice has been given an ‘individual training plan’, which is why he wasn’t called up for the trip to La Manga.
The former West Ham man is working on his own in London, but the report claims that there is no cause for concern with regards to his fitness.
Rice is still expected to be on the plane for Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia. The whole squad is set to depart on the 19th of July.
Other absentees in Arsenal’s pre-season training camp
Rice is undoubtedly the biggest absentee in La Manga, but he isn’t the only one.
David Raya is yet to report to training after his holiday, during which he tied the knot with his long-time partner Tatiana Trouboul.
Ethan Nwaneri is also absent as he has been given some extended time off following his participation in the U21s Euros. Fabio Vieira is not back either, after he played in the Club World Cup.
Gabriel Jesus is also absent as he is continuing his rehabilitation in London.
