Arsenal produced the result that matters most to the majority of fans by beating Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal were victorious in the North London Derby having gone into the game under pressure following a run of three games without a win.
Myles Lewis-Skelly was fantastic in his role from left back and Arsenal received a stroke of luck from a referee mistake with the wrongful awarding of a corner kick that led to the equalising goal.
Mikel Arteta’s side have been on the end of some questionable officiating this season but the manager also noticed another change during the dramatic 2-1 victory that closed the gap at the top of the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta ‘loved’ the atmosphere in the North London Derby
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal v Aston Villa, Arteta was asked about the victory over Spurs and alluded to one key factor that he noticed had changed at the Emirates Stadium.
Arteta stated: “I saw a different bite to our crowd, a different body language. We were on top of every ball. We created an atmosphere with and without the ball and we had a real purpose.”
The comments came after Arteta had called the North London Derby the ‘nicest’ game in an attempt to create a hostile atmosphere and he was delighted with the impact it had on both the fans and the players.
The Spaniard explained: “I loved the attitude the team played with. We had some big performances and it was a beautiful night for us to celebrate in front of our people. We’re moving to the next one now because it’s a big one again against Villa.”
Mikel Arteta claims Jason Ayto is the person to ask about transfers
Whilst the derby result certainly lifted the mood at the Emirates, there is still the glaring problem of the lack of attacking options available to the manager at the moment.
When asked about the difficulties of signing a striker in January, Arteta stated: “I think it’s more a question for Jason [Ayto]. I don’t know but I think we have to do what we think is right and what we can do as well.
“That’s it and it’s clear that we’d like to improve the squad especially with what happened. Can we do it or not? It depends on a lot of factors.”

Arsenal are interested in signing Benjamin Sesko but his current club Leipzig have denied entering talks with Arsenal over Sesko.
If the Gunners can manage to get one or two deals over the line this window, it would certainly increase their chances of catching Liverpool in the race for the title.
