Benjamin Sesko has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time.

The RB Leipzig star has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League for over a year now, and Mikel Arteta’s side tried very hard to land him last summer.

However, Sesko rejected Arsenal and every other interested club and chose to extend his contract with the Bundesliga side until 2029.

The Gunners, however, are still big admirers of the striker and would love to sign him.

What Arsenal have to do to sign Benjamin Sesko

Sesko is one of RB Leipzig’s best players.

The Slovenia international has directly contributed to 16 goals in 25 appearances for the Bundesliga side, including five goals in his last five games.

He is an absolute superstar in the making, and it is no surprise at all that some of the biggest clubs in Europe have him on their radar.

TBR Football revealed on Thursday that Leipzig have denied holding talks with Arsenal about Sesko this month. A mid-season transfer is not expected.

Fabrizio Romano has now backed that claim and he has revealed that the only way Arteta could land the striker is if he agrees to pay ‘crazy money’ in the coming days.

He said in a video on his YouTube channel: “Red Bull Leipzig absolutely want to keep the player at the club. Red Bull Leipzig means the CEO, Oliver Mintzlaff, Jurgen Klopp, who is a big face of the project, and obviously the manager Marco Rose, they all want together to continue with Benjamin Sesko until the end of the season.

“The release clause is not valid now. The only way to change this story is for Arsenal to go there and put crazy money on the table, completely crazy. In that case, things happen.

“Otherwise, forget about a loan, forget about a loan with buy option, but in general, Red Bull Leipzig, from what I’m told, consider this story more than difficult, more than complicated for January. They want to keep the player, and so, it’s not going to be easy.”

Other strikers Arsenal could target in this window

Sesko would be a tremendous option for Arsenal, but it is extremely unlikely that they will be able to sign him in the winter window.

Arteta will have to look elsewhere now, and luckily for him, there are a few options.

Reports have claimed that Juventus have offered Dusan Vlahovic to Arsenal for a cut-price fee of just £45.6 million.

Viktor Gyokeres is another player Arsenal like, and he has been having a tremendous campaign at Sporting CP again.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal will make a move for either striker in the coming weeks.
