Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori injury update ahead of PSG clash

One of the biggest talking points regarding injury news from Saturday’s fixture was the omission of Ben White

White suffered a groin injury which kept him out of contention to feature against Leicester and unfortunately, he was not the only injury concern to come from the game.

Riccardo Calafiori is believed to have hurt his knee late on in the battle against the Foxes, leading Arteta to provide the latest instalment of news on the two player’s fitness.

In the pre-match press conference ahead of the PSG clash, Arteta admitted that both fullbacks need to be reviewed before a final decision is made.

“Those are the two players that are in contention and we have to review today,” the Arsenal manager explained to the media.

As expected, the boss kept his cards close to his chest regarding Arsenal’s team news, with an open training session scheduled for Monday afternoon ahead of Tuesday’s tie.

All will be made clearer after the squad trains at Colney, with eyes set to be on whether White and Calafiori make an appearance.

Mikel Arteta has decision to make over Arsenal’s fullbacks

In the instance that White and Calafiori are both fit and ready to face PSG, another topic will arise regarding the two players.

Arteta sees White as his favoured right-back although, such could change after the recent performances of both Calafiori and Jurrien Timber.

The Dutchman filled in at right-back with the summer signing assuming the left side role, with both players showing undroppable form against both Manchester City and most recently against Leicester.

As a result, Arteta could be braced for a dilemma over squad selection if White is fit, which will make for an interesting wait for squad selection ahead of Tuesday night’s blockbuster.
