Arsenal returned to winning ways in the Premier League however, the win over Leicester City only handed Mikel Arteta a new problem.

There were plenty of talking points from Arsenal’s win over Leicester at the Emirates, as the Gunners left it late to claim three points.

Heading into the interval cruising with a two-goal lead, not many anticipated that Arteta’s side would make it difficult for themselves against the newly-promoted outfit.

Instead of scoring a decisive third goal, two lapses in concentration saw the Foxes find a way back into the game, with the scoreline level right up until injury time.

A Wilfred Ndidi own goal gave Arsenal the lead in the dying embers, with Kai Havertz then rubbing salt in the wounds by scoring a fourth.

Mikel Arteta handed a selection headache after Arsenal win over Leicester City

Aside from conceding twice to allow Leicester back into the fixture, Arsenal were incredibly dominant, with plenty of positives to take from the contest.

One positive could soon turn into a negative however, as Arteta was handed a new headache over squad selection thanks to the performances of his fullbacks.

With Ben White missing out due to a groin injury, Riccardo Calafiori was handed his second consecutive start, seeing Jurrien Timber shift over to cover White’s absence on the right side.

By making the switch, Arteta was shown exactly why he signed the two fullbacks, with both players putting in admirable shifts against the Foxes to assist Arsenal to the win.

It’s a positive, but a problem for the manager to now address, with a question to be answered when White returns from injury as to who drops out to see the Englishman return.

Prior to the former Brighton ace’s omission, Calafiori was a substitute and Timber assumed the left side, something that can’t simply return as a result of the duo’s impact on the squad in White’s absence.

Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber are undroppable right now

There are more reservations over Calafiori’s claim to the starting XI than Timber’s however, such wouldn’t justify the Italian being dropped to the bench.

Playing at left-back, the summer signing has added a further level of energy to the defence, with his presence significantly bolstering the performances of those on the left side.

If the win over Leicester told Arteta anything regarding his fullbacks, it was to brace White for the shock scenario that could see him ousted from the favoured XI to accommodate Timber and Calafiori.

While the Englishman has been faultless during his time at the club, the emerging pair give Arsenal what has been missing this season so far, bringing an energy that boosts those around them.

It will be interesting to see how the boss navigates around the selection headache going forward, with it being a valuable, but difficult, position to be in.
