They were pegged back in the second half though, with a penalty awarded to Brighton for a clash of heads in the Arsenal box.

It was a decision that Mikel Arteta hit out at, telling the press after the match: “I have never seen a decision like this in my career.”

He followed it up on Sky Sports, claiming: “I have never seen it in my life. Saliba touches the ball.”

It shows the frustration from the manager following on from the draw.

Arsenal linked with Marco Asensio transfer

With the January transfer window now here, Arsenal have been rumoured with plenty of interest in forward options.

Injury problems have been a key concern for Mikel Arteta as of late, with the forward ranks a clear issue.

January is an awkward market to operate in, so the Gunners will have to be aware of potential options and bargains rather than overpaying.

One of those potential signings is Marco Asensio, as CaughtOffside claims Arsenal are monitoring a potential switch.

Arsenal handed Dani Olmo transfer boost

Arsenal have been linked with a potential transfer for Dani Olmo, with uncertainty facing the Barcelona star’s future.

It comes as the Blaugrana are struggling to get the Spanish international registered in their squad for the second half of the season.

With La Liga’s wage cap and registration rules, Barcelona have been looking for solutions to add Olmo to their squad again.

However, the Spanish league have rejected the side’s request to register him, coming as a huge blow to them.

It could be a boost for Arsenal though, who may now have a chance to land the midfielder on a free transfer.
