Paul Merson has warned Arsenal fans to let Eberechi Eze play his football, with some putting too much pressure on him to play a certain way.

Eze has not had the easiest time at Arsenal over the last few months, with his last goal for the club coming in the North London derby back in November.

Recently, Mikel Arteta has demanded more from Eze in terms of his all-around game, as he explained why he has not played much football recently.

The 27-year-old will hope to find his feet at the Emirates Stadium soon, but Merson believes that the fans really are not helping him right now.

Paul Merson sends Eberechi Eze warning to Arsenal fans

Paul Merson claims that Eberechi Eze is one of the coolest players in the Premier League and has told Arsenal fans to trust him on the ball.

The Arsenal legend says that too often Eze is in possession, and then he hears groans from the supporters when he does not release it quickly enough.

However, Merson believes the winger can create chances from nowhere, and moaning at him is helping nobody.

Speaking on the Overlap, Merson said: “Eze again, I watched him last week. Eze plays like no other person; he’s cool, he’s relaxed. But you can’t do that with the fans at Arsenal.

“He got it the other day. He was looking up and waiting, and everyone was screaming. It’s like, let him play, he will make something happen, let him play.”

Eze says playing for Arsenal remains his dream, despite his recent lack of game time and disappointing performances for the Gunners.

The former Crystal Palace star’s form will frustrate Arteta as Martin Odegaard is also struggling, meaning his two number ten options are off the pace right now.

Eberechi Eze must start at Wembley for Arsenal

Ahead of next month’s Carabao Cup final, Arteta faces a big decision over whether to start Eze or Odegaard at Wembley.

The winger has four goals in his last five games at the Home of Football, and when asked about whether the team can draw on his experiences there, he told Sky Sports: “I’ll be honest, this team is so good.

“We’re so strong, and we’re so confident as well, so trust ourselves and will keep on pushing.”
