Pep Guardiola has revealed his thoughts on Arsenal’s outstanding recent form.

The Gunners sit pretty at the top of the Premier League table, six points clear of second-placed Manchester City after ten matches.

Mikel Arteta’s side travel to Sunderland on Saturday evening, the day before City host Liverpool at the Etihad, on what could be a pivotal weekend in the title race.

Many are now tipping Arsenal to win the league, and Guardiola is among those who has jumped at the opportunity to praise the North London outfit.

Pep Guardiola says Arsenal look ‘unbeatable’ at the moment

Guardiola has overseen some exceptional teams throughout his career.

His Barcelona side of the late 2000s and early 2010s won two Champions Leagues in three seasons and is widely regarded as one of the best club teams ever.

However, the Spanish manager hasn’t coached a side that has produced the defensive numbers that the Gunners are currently.

Arsenal matched a 122-year-old club record on Tuesday when they beat Slavia Prague, claiming their eighth successive victory without conceding a goal.

This is a feat Barcelona never managed under Guardiola, and the legendary manager has subsequently heaped praise on Arteta’s side.

“The most important thing is you have to be cool now,” he told NDTV.

“You have incredible opponents, especially in the Premier League. Arsenal looks unbeatable at the moment. At the end you win titles or win a rivalry when the team grows.

“It is important to be good now and you need to see the team grow and grow to be better, after that, we see what happens.”

Manchester City are Arsenal’s biggest rivals for the title

At the beginning of the season, Liverpool were tipped by many to win the Premier League.

The Merseysiders had spent over £400 million on players and are, of course, the reigning Champions. However, Arsenal are now seen as the favourites, and City are clearly the biggest threat to the Gunners.

The Manchester club are in rampant form, strolling past Bournemouth in their last league fixture and comfortably beating Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.

Erling Haaland is playing at a level few strikers have ever replicated, while the rest of Guardiola’s team is beginning to function in a competent way.

A City win on Sunday at the Etihad would be significantly more damaging for Arsenal than a Liverpool victory. The Citizens are the only side that can genuinely keep pace with the Gunners, and thus, the North London faithful should be hoping for a draw or an away win.
