Peter Crouch thinks Arsenal have actually signed a player who is ‘unplayable’

Peter Crouch has shared his opinion on one of Arsenal’s six new summer signings.

Andrea Berta had a rapid start to life at Arsenal, delivering the reinforcements Mikel Arteta’s squad so desperately needed.

It hasn’t taken long for Arsenal’s improved squad depth to be noticed, giving the manager more efficient tools to work with over the season ahead.

Though more arrivals are expected and exits are guaranteed, Peter Crouch already believes the Gunners might have struck gold with one of their captures.

Peter Crouch is a big fan of Arsenal signing Noni Madueke

Crouch has some reservations about how many goals Gyokeres will score, disagreeing that the 27-year-old could hit 20 in his debut Premier League campaign.

That being said, when it comes to the other attacker Arsenal signed this summer, the pundit has higher hopes.

Speaking to TNT Sports to preview the 2025/26 season, Crouch was asked to grade Arsenal’s capture of Noni Madueke.

The former Liverpool striker gave the transfer a 7/10 rating, revealing that he loves what the winger offers on the pitch.

“Love him as a player, think he can be unplayable at times,” Crouch said.

Madueke has already impressed Arsenal’s coaching staff, but Crouch believes the 23-year-old needs to improve one thing to truly ‘flourish’ in N5.

“Just [has] slight inconsistencies. I think if he gets that right, he has the chance to flourish.”

The decision to sign Madueke from Chelsea split opinion, as once again, Arsenal handed their London rivals a sizeable fee for a player not wanted at Stamford Bridge.

Former Chelsea player Joe Cole insisted Madueke’s move to the Emirates is another instance of ‘great business’ for the Blues when he graded the transfer.

“Great business for Chelsea, he’s a very good player, he can improve, I’m going to give it a 7/10.”

Madueke’s record at Chelsea might alert Arsenal

Some believe Arsenal overpaid for Madueke, but the price is high for Premier League-proven players of his potential and age.

As both Crouch and Cole said, there’s plenty of room for Madueke to blossom into a complete player at Arsenal, with the signs already there at Chelsea.

The winger made 92 appearances for Arsenal’s rivals, contributing to 29 goals in that time.

What might be a concern for Arteta is that none of Madueke’s goals have come when he played on the left side, where he’s most likely to predominantly play for Arsenal.

Madueke is far more impactful on the right, but Arteta will make it his project to develop the forward into an equally as strong player on the opposite side.
