Arsenal will have to pick themselves up from the disappointment in Paris and end their domestic campaign strongly.

Thierry Henry has criticised Arsenal for not winning a trophy for the fifth consecutive season and there are some who believe Arteta is beginning to come under pressure to deliver.

Ian Wright has backed Arteta and how he is progressing the club and the former Gunners’ striker has just revealed who he thinks has been the club’s player of the season.

Ian Wright reveals his pick for Arsenal’s player of the season

Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast, Wright has revealed that he believes Declan Rice should be awarded Arsenal’s player of the season.

Wright stated: “Declan is probably our player of the season.”

Fans have been impressed with Rice in recent months in how he has stepped up to become a real leader in Arteta’s side.

He has shown he has more than adapted to the more advanced midfield position in the Gunners’ side and has produced his best return in front of goal in his senior career with eight goals in all competitions.

Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey are also contenders for Arsenal’s player of the season

Gabriel was sensational for Arteta’s side before a hamstring injury ended his campaign early. The Brazilian commanded the Arsenal back four and showed real leadership in adversity.

Thomas Partey has also enjoyed his best season at the club and Andrea Berta has opened contract talks with Partey amid his excellent form.

Fans will have their own opinion on the player of the season but the likelihood is that it will be one of the three mentioned.

The Gunners need to focus on securing Champions League football for next season in their remaining three games before regrouping in the summer.
