Pundit gets really ‘stuck’ when choosing between Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres was recently included in a game of start, bench, drop.

The summer signing might welcome the international break with open arms amid his goalless run for Arsenal.

It’s been six games in all competitions since the Swede last scored for the Gunners, losing sight of his impressive start in the Premier League.

Gyokeres was left frustrated against Olympiacos and would’ve felt the same after West Ham visited the Emirates, failing to score once again.

Steve Nicol ranks Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko

Things are happening for Gyokeres, despite his recent scoring lull.

The 27-year-old is gelling with his teammates on the pitch, finding his place in the front line, with all that’s missing being the goals.

Though many have reservations about Gyokeres’ fit at Arsenal, pundit Steve Nicol still thinks he’s a better pick than Manchester United’s summer signing Benjamin Sesko.

Speaking on ESPN FC after Arsenal’s win over West Ham, Nicol was asked to start, bench, or drop Sesko, Gyokeres and Alexander Isak.

“I don’t think Sesko is going to make a huge effect on United, to be honest,” Nicol said.

“I’m expecting Isak to absolutely have an impact on Liverpool eventually,” he added, but then admitted that he was stuck on how to rank Gyokeres.

“I’m really stuck with the Gyokeres one. I don’t think Sesko, I’m dropping Sesko. I’m going to start Isak, and I’m going to bench Gyokeres.”

Given that Gyokeres has been backed to score 40 goals by his Arsenal teammates, Nicol might regret benching the striker, but for now, he’s among the pundits’ substitutes.

Gyokeres will want to make amends after West Ham disasterclass

Some fans believe that the striker could soon be among Arsenal’s substitutes, but Mikel Arteta’s thoughts on Gyokeres are clear.

After the win over West Ham, the Arsenal manager chose to publicly praise his summer signing’s effort in the game, despite criticism coming from fans and pundits over his performance.

Gyokeres has given the Arsenal squad a target to aim at, but what he now needs to do is convert chances, which he didn’t against West Ham.

The Swede had an afternoon to forget, missing two big chances to score and only managing to complete five passes.

Arsenal know what Gyokeres is capable of, with a lot more to come from the marksman after the international break.
