Arsenal are set to complete their eighth signing of the summer, with Piero Hincapie imminently arriving from Bayer Leverkusen.

Andrea Berta has spent over £250 million in the transfer window, bolstering Mikel Arteta’s squad in a number of different positions.

Viktor Gyokeres arrived from Sporting CP as the marquee addition, while the likes of Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and Martin Zubimendi have also signed for significant fees.

Hincapie will complete his loan move from Leverkusen on deadline day, joining what has become a star-studded and stacked ensemble for the Gunners.

Izzy Christiansen says Christian Norgaard is the most ‘underrated’ signing of the summer

Despite signing several big names for big fees, former Manchester City star and now pundit, Izzy Christiansen, believes one of the Gunners’ cheaper acquisitions will prove to be the most ‘underrated’ acquisition of the summer.

Arsenal bought Christian Norgaard for £15 million from Brentford earlier this summer to replace Jorginho and provide Zubimendi with cover and competition.

The Dane has missed the start of the campaign through injury, but should be back after the international break and raring to go for the Gunners.

Speaking to NOW on TikTok, Christiansen cited Norgaard when asked for who she thinks is the most underrated signing made by a Premier League club this summer.

“Norgaard at Arsenal,” she said.

“He’ll slot in when needed, and yeah, I think he’s slipped under the radar a little bit.”

Norgaard captained Brentford in his last two seasons in West London, and was consistently the Bees’ most impressive performer in midfield.

Making 34 appearances in the Premier League for Thomas Frank’s side last season, he’ll be more than capable of filling in for the Gunners from time to time.

Christian Norgaard’s statistics 2024/25

Norgaard could indeed prove to be an excellent addition for Arsenal.

As shown by the data below, the 31-year-old is an upgrade on his predecessor, Jorginho, in almost every facet of the game.

While the Italian remained an excellent passer in his final days in N5, he lacked the mobility and defensive instincts to play in the Premier League on a consistent basis.

Norgaard is significantly more adept at winning the ball back and will be an excellent option for Arteta to call upon to close games out from the bench.

Signing the Premier League veteran for such a minimal fee was excellent business from Berta.
