Arsenal enjoyed a special moment in their history in 2004 when they won the Premier League title at White Hart Lane.

The North London Derby ended 2-2 after a late Robbie Keane penalty denied Arsene Wenger’s side all three points as goals from Patrick Vieira and Robert Pires had put Arsenal in command.

It was a special moment for fans to win the Premier League title at the home of their arch rivals and capped a momentous season where the club went unbeaten for the entire league campaign.

Sol Campbell praised the character of the Invincibles and their winning mentality was something that drove them on to the success they had – perhaps highlighted by what Thierry Henry said to Vieira before that clash with Spurs.

What Thierry Henry said to Patrick Vieira before Tottenham clash

The Gunners knew that just a point was needed heading into the match with Spurs, after their nearest title rivals Chelsea were beaten by Newcastle United.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Henry revealed what he said to Vieira upon hearing the result and it demonstrated the focus Wenger’s squad had on getting over the line that season.

Henry stated: “Well as I said before the game to Patrick [Vieira] you know it would have been amazing to win today but we still didn’t have to win, that’s why we came with the shape of the team organised and played on the counter attack.”

Arsenal’s all time top goal scorer was still unhappy with his own display in the win, despite playing a huge role in securing the title.

Henry explained: “To be honest we should have won that game, we hit the cross bar, I missed an easy goal and you know at the end I don’t know what happened but at the end of the day, the most important thing was to win the title here.”

Arsenal still searching for Premier League title since 2004

You would have been a brave person to suggest that Arsenal would not win another Premier League title for 21 years after that day in North London in 2004 but here we are.

Mikel Arteta is on the brink of breaking that record but faces a huge summer of recruitment ahead of him to try and bolster the Arsenal squad in terms of depth and firepower up front.

Campbell has backed Arteta to break Arsenal’s barren run once they sign a new centre forward and the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko have been touted as potential suitors.

Whilst hope still remains of winning a maiden Champions League trophy, it is about time the Gunners added to their 13 league titles and closed the gap on Liverpool and Manchester United.
