Arsenal crashed out of the FA Cup thanks to an inspired Altay Bayindir performance in goal for Manchester United.

Arsenal had a Gabriel Martinelli goal disallowed in the first half but failed to register a single shot on target in the first half.

Martin Odegaard missed a penalty in normal time to send Arsenal through, whilst Kai Havertz missed several glorious opportunities and the decisive penalty in the shoot-out.

Ian Wright has called for the board to help Arteta with some January signings and fellow pundit Theo Walcott has also been giving his insight on what the team needs.

Theo Walcott reveals that Arsenal fans want to see January signings

Speaking on BBC’s half time coverage of Arsenal v Manchester United in the FA Cup third round, Walcott was speaking on Arsenal’s attacking options following the knee injury to Gabriel Jesus.

Walcott stated: “Being in the Arsenal setup and seeing the fans and speaking to them, they wanna see players, they wanna see signings. The player like Isak the other day, big signing.”

Walcott then went on to discuss the realistic possibility of a signing like Isak and the fans may need to reign in expectations given the difficulty of the January transfer window.”

He stated: “They’re not gonna expect that in January. They always do [want to see signings] and I’m one of them. It’s a big ask, especially in January.”

Arsenal’s attacking troubles continued against Manchester United

Arsenal were guilty of missing yet more glorious chances during the clash against United. Arsenal had an incredible 70% possession during the game, which led to 26 goal attempts compared to just seven from Ruben Amorim’s side.

The chances created but ultimately squandered led to the Gunners accumulating an expected goals (xG) of 3.22 in the match and it isn’t the first time they have not fired in front of goal in recent matches.

The above stat once again highlights the need for attacking signings but Arsenal are linked with defenders Ronald Araujo and Theo Hernandez.

If Arsenal are to catch Liverpool in the Premier League, Arsenal fans will be hoping for better news in the search for a new striker.
