Myles Lewis-Skelly’s rise at Arsenal has been astonishing.

The teenager was still playing for the academy this time last year. Everyone knew he was a huge talent, but nobody would’ve predicted to see him become as big a star as he is now.

Lewis-Skelly is Arsenal’s first-choice left-back right now, ahead of established defenders like Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney and also summer signing Riccardo Calafiori.

That is outstanding at 18 years of age, and his performances over the last few months have impressed people outside Arsenal as well.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank is one of them.

Thomas Frank delivers verdict on Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly

Lewis-Skelly has completed some incredible milestones this season.

From making his senior debut at Arsenal to scoring against the defending Premier League champions, and from making his England debut to scoring on the same day, he has done it all.

Lewis-Skelly was fantastic against Real Madrid in the Champions League as well. He wasn’t fazed about coming up against the likes of Luka Modric, Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga at all.

Frank was in attendance when Arsenal beat Real Madrid, and the Bees boss would’ve definitely noticed the way Lewis-Skelly played.

Ahead of the clash at the Emirates, he has raved about the teenager.

He said, as relayed on HaytersTV: “Ah, he’s done well. Definitely a very talented player. He has played different positions.

“I like his directness, the way he drives forward with the ball, carries the ball forward, his technical ability and his decision making. A very good player.”

The one Myles Lewis-Skelly decision Mikel Arteta has to make

Arsenal take on Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday, and the Gunners boss is expected to make a few changes.

Paul Merson is convinced that Raheem Sterling is going to start, and other fringe players could well get an opportunity as well.

At left-back, we think Arteta should rest Lewis-Skelly ahead of the big Champions League second-leg clash against Real Madrid next week.

Zinchenko and Tierney are both fit and available – one of them should get the nod against the Bees.

However, we won’t be surprised at all if Arteta starts Lewis-Skelly yet again because the youngster’s performances have been that good.
