Arsenal fans have been raving about Leandro Trossard’s display against Sunderland, which may have slipped under the radar due to Viktor Gyokeres’ brace.
Gyokeres rightfully got big praise for his two goals during the 3-0; however, one player who was really key, according to Arsenal fans, was the Belgian.
🤔 AGREE or DISAGREE: Leandro Trossard has been Arsenal’s most underrated player this season!
If not Trossard, which Gunner are you picking?
The win over Sunderland moves Mikel Arteta’s team nine points clear at the top of the Premier League ahead of Man City’s trip to Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
So far, it’s been a great week for Arsenal and an even better one for Trossard, who has been getting big plaudits from supporters.
Arsenal fans hail Leandro Trossard vs Sunderland
Arsenal fans have told TalkingPoints that Leandro Trossard was quite possibly the team’s best player in the 3-0 win over Sunderland.
Back in the summer, Andrea Berta made the brave decision to renew Trossard’s contract, despite the 31-year-old being linked with a move away.
At the time, many Arsenal fans felt the club had made a mistake; however, his performances this season have been vital towards the Gunners’ title charge.
His experience and quality really shone through against Sunderland, as Arteta’s team ground out three points at the Emirates Stadium.
During a Man of the Match poll on TalkingPoints, fans voted for Gyokeres, but there were plenty who also claimed Trossard was the star man.
One fan hailed the winger’s professionalism after the win: “Trossard was like a leader going forward, such a pro.”
Describe Leandro Trossard’s performance against Sunderland in THREE words
“Zubimendi and Gyokeres will get all the plaudits, but Trossard deserves a lot of praise as well. Ran his socks off all game and created more chances than anyone else. What a player,” added another.
There was yet more praise from a TalkingPoints user: “It’s Trossard for me. His work rate is fantastic as he troubles opponents from the left side. Great guy!”
“Trossard once again showing why it was a masterclass from Berta to keep him,” with the Italian director also receiving plaudits.
Finally, another supporter simply stated: “Trossard. Quietly excellent as always.”
The former Brighton winger continues to prove his worth to Arteta’s squad and keep Eberechi Eze out of the team.
Gabriel Martinelli’s underrated display at right wing
Another player whose contributions are going under the radar right now is Gabriel Martinelli, who was played out on the right wing again.
An injury to Bukayo Saka has left the Gunners a bit light on the right, but so far, the Brazilian has stepped up to play in that role.
Martinelli assisted Gyokeres’ second goal following an impressive run from inside his own half, putting it on a plate for the Swede.
Like Trossard, Martinelli nearly left Arsenal last summer, but the 24-year-old is another who is really making himself count in the club’s title push.
