Arsenal are in Dubai for their customary mid-season warm weather training camp, as Mikel Arteta looks to re-charge his team.

The Gunners have endured a turbulent campaign thus far, hindered by persistent injuries and controversial suspensions.

Newcastle ended Arsenal’s Carabao Cup exploits in midweek, defeating Arteta’s side 2-0 at St. James’ Park to win the tie 4-0 on aggregate.

With the fixture schedule extremely congested over recent months, Arsenal now have the opportunity to re-group and find a new lease of energy as they spend a week in the Middle East.

Ben White returns to Arsenal training in Dubai

Ben White was among those on Arsenal’s flight to Dubai, despite the Englishman spending the last few months in the treatment room.

The defender hasn’t featured in any capacity since Arsenal’s game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in early November.

White underwent surgery on his knee, and has been recovering since.

The Gunners have had to rely on Jurrien Timber to play almost every single game at right-back, with Thomas Partey filling in at various points as well.

However, it now appears that White may be on the cusp of a return to action, after being pictured in training in Dubai on Friday morning.

Having been out for over two months, there’s no guarantee that he’ll be capable of slotting back into Arteta’s side immediately after this short break.

However, White is expected to be involved in some capacity against Leicester at the King Power Stadium next Saturday afternoon.

Ben White’s return is huge for Arsenal

Timber has been outstanding for Arsenal in White’s absence, although the Dutchman has looked overburdened with the minutes he’s had to play at times.

White’s return will provide Timber with cover and competition, and allow Arteta to keep both players fresh as he rotates between the two of them.

Described as ‘world-class’ by Arsenal coach Carlos Cuesta, the 27-year-old was essential to the right-hand side of the North Londoners’ attack functioning last season.

Starting 35 Premier League games last term, White scored four goals and provided four assists.

His constant overlaps and accurate cut-backs and crosses from the by-line made him a constant threat, and this is an area of his game where he’s superior to Timber.

White’s re-emergence could well ignite a spark in Arsenal’s attack.
