The writing is on the wall for one Arsenal player after the Gunners’ opening day win against Manchester United.
It was a hard-fought result for Arsenal, who took three points back to North London to start the season off with a win.
Mikel Arteta made some questionable decisions during the contest, including the choice to start last season’s starting full-backs on the bench.
The Arsenal manager’s tweak paid off as Riccardo Calafiori scored the match-winner, but one call was telling for the wrong reasons.

Leandro Trossard surely has no future at Arsenal
Arteta made five changes against United, firstly shaking up the attack by replacing Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Martinelli with Kai Havertz and Noni Madueke.
The pair represented the only attacking changes that the boss made during the match, with no room to hand Ethan Nwaneri and Leandro Trossard minutes.
Nwaneri just signed a new contract, so his absence was tactical; however, the same can’t be said for Trossard.
Arsenal are open to selling Trossard this summer, and against Man United, Arteta doubled down on what the club’s stance on the player is.
Ordinarily, a player being an unused substitute wouldn’t symbolise a potential exit, but in Trossard’s case, it represents a lot more.
That’s because the 30-year-old appeared in every single one of Arsenal’s Premier League games last season, with Arteta calling on him to make an impact becoming a routine switch.
Amid Trossard’s links to Galatasaray, the decision to leave him on the bench was telling, marking the first time he’d been an unused substitute in the Premier League since September 2023.
Arsenal need to offload Trossard
There are several reasons why Arsenal should offload Trossard this summer, despite the former Brighton star being a valuable player to have.
Aside from the need to sell players, the most prominent reason is to avoid watching the Belgian leave on a free next summer.
Trossard’s contract expires in 2026, meaning that now is the final chance for Arsenal to generate funds through his sale.
Signed by Arteta in January 2023 for £27m, the winger has been a loyal servant to the club, but now, it might be time to move on.
