Alexander Isak has probably just ruined another one of Arsenal’s transfer plans

Alexander Isak has been the man making the most headlines in the footballing world this week.

Indeed, Alexander Isak has decided that he’s ready to explore a move away from Newcastle United, and, as luck would have it, Arsenal can’t get involved in this race.

Arsenal could theoretically afford Isak, but a deal isn’t likely as Viktor Gyokeres is set to sign and more additions are needed elsewhere.

Isak appears more likely to join Liverpool, but this move may well have a knock-on effect at the Emirates.

Arsenal are still in the market for a new left winger and Isak’s impending Newcastle departure may scupper one of the Gunners’ transfer plans.

Anthony Gordon to Arsenal now more unlikely

Alexander Isak appears to be keen to leave Newcastle, and if he gets his wish, that may dash Arsenal’s hopes of signing Anthony Gordon this summer.

Gordon had been linked to Arsenal as the Gunners look to bolster that left wing position, but if Isak is sold, there’s almost no way you could see that deal happening.

Indeed, Newcastle won’t want to lose their two star attackers in the same transfer window, and if they do pocket over £100m for Isak, they won’t be under any sort of pressure to sell Gordon.

Eddie Howe will want as much stability as possible in his team if Isak departs, and that means Gordon will surely stay.

Who else could Arsenal sign on the left wing?

Gordon to Arsenal now seems fairly unlikely, but the Gunners do still need another left winger.

Luckily, other options are available.

Eberechi Eze is keen on Arsenal, and while he’s a central player, he can also play down the left.

Meanwhile, Rodrygo Goes has been linked to Arsenal too, while Rafael Leao is on the Gunners’ radar.

Interestingly, Noni Madueke has been training to play down the left recently, so perhaps Arsenal won’t even need a new signing out wide.

There’s still more than a month to go in the summer transfer window, and with Arsenal on the lookout for a new left winger, it will be interesting to see what the Gunners do from here on in.
