Arsenal’s summer transfer plans are beginning to take shape under Andrea Berta.
The Gunners are understood to be in the market for a central midfielder, a striker, a winger and a back-up goalkeeper, and it’s becoming increasingly clear who each of these additions will be.
Martin Zubimendi is set to sign from Real Sociedad for £51 million, with the player reaching a verbal agreement with Arsenal over the prospective move.
Joan Garcia remains the primary keeper target, while it’s well documented that Mikel Arteta wants to sign Nico Williams to fill the wide forward spot.
Up front, there are several names that have been mooted as potential options, including the likes of Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.

Andrea Berta could complete Edu’s masterplan by signing Alexander Isak
Zubimendi will link up with his Gunners teammates for the first time in pre-season once the deal has been finalised.
The Spaniard shouldn’t have any issues fitting into the Arsenal dressing room, having played alongside Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino at Sociedad.
The trio were once La Real’s starting midfield, and they’ll now be reunited at Arsenal, with Declan Rice there to complement their skillsets.
The next step for Berta is to add a striker to Arteta’s ranks, and he could complete the Real Sociedad reunion by acquiring Isak.
Isak is Arteta’s dream signing, while Edu Gaspar was also said to be a huge admirer of the player before he left Arsenal, with the Brazilian also reportedly one of the driving forces behind the Gunners’ interest in Merino and Zubimendi.
The Newcastle striker signed for the Magpies from Sociedad in 2022, spending the three years before that at San Sebastian.
The four former Sociedad players shared a dressing room for just one season in the Basque Country, in the 2019/20 campaign, when Imanol Alguacil’s side qualified for the Europa League by finishing sixth.

How good would Alexander Isak be at Arsenal?
Arguably the only striker on the market that Arsenal could plausibly attain that would be guaranteed to be a success at the Emirates, the Gunners should go all out to secure Isak.
Even if Berta has to stump up a ridiculous fee for the Swede, he’d be worth almost every penny.
Isak has been described as ‘unbelievable’, with the number nine establishing himself as one of the best strikers in world football in recent seasons.
| Isak’ Premier League Statistics 2024/25 | |
| Appearances | 32 |
| Goals | 23 |
| Assists | 6 |
| Shots | 3.07 |
| Expected Goals per 90 | 0.7 |
| Key Passes per 90 | 1.43 |
| Expected Assists per 90 | 0.12 |
| Successful Take-Ons per 90 | 1.47 |
Netting 27 goals across all competitions this campaign, the 25-year-old has everything.
An elite goalscorer, an exceptional dribbler, a creator and an effective presser, Isak would be a transformational signing for Arsenal.
However, the North London club are likely to be priced out of the move and look at alternatives.
