Andrea Berta could pull Eberechi Eze repeat as another Tottenham target wants to sign for Arsenal

History could repeat itself in the summer transfer window for Tottenham, as their target Leon Goretzka would love to join Arsenal ahead of their rivals.

Arsenal showed interest in Goretzka in the January transfer window as Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta hunted for a new midfielder.

The Bayern Munich star is to leave Bavaria in the summer at the expiration of his contract and is eyeing a move to the Premier League.

Already, Goretzka is understood to favour a move to Arsenal amid Arteta’s interest, but the Gunners aren’t the only English club to be looking at the six-time Bundesliga winner.

Arsenal could repeat Tottenham’s Eberechi Eze transfer blow after Leon Goretzka update

BILD journalist Christian Falk recently shared an update on Goretzka’s future with CFBayern.

Despite talks with Atletico Madrid, it’s only the Premier League that the German international wants, and to be even more specific, his preference is Arsenal.

Falk noted that, “In his [Goretzka’s] heart, he feels this [Arsenal] would be a perfect next club.”

It’s great news for Arsenal, but not for the other team that wants him, Tottenham.

Spurs fans are still recovering from Sol Campbell’s 2001 transfer across North London, and were reminded of how it feels to be dealt transfer humiliation from their rivals in 2025 when Eberechi Eze’s move was hijacked.

It then happened again, as Tottenham were interested in Piero Hincapie, who went on to join Arsenal, and now, it can happen once more.

While Goretzka loves Arsenal, Falk made it clear that Spurs are ‘not as attractive an option’ as the Gunners, which is another demoralising blow for the Lilywhites.

It’s equally unsurprising, given that Tottenham could be playing in the Championship next season.

If the Eze deal was tough enough to stomach, then another snub could be the icing on the cake, but quite frankly, it’s the least of Spurs’ worries.

The gulf in class between Arsenal and Tottenham is arguably bigger than ever, and Goretzka’s early transfer wish conveys that.

Considering that the German is eager to ‘win the Champions League with another club’, Tottenham have no grounds to lure the player to N17.

Campbell was the biggest blow, Eze was a reminder of that pain, and now, Goretzka is demonstrating the transfer issue Tottenham could have long-term.
