Andrea Berta sealed bargain of the summer transfer window at Arsenal, and nobody is talking about it

Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, will finally have a chance to reflect on what has been a busy summer for the side in the transfer window.

The Gunners have been pretty active in the market, spending roughly £250 million in an attempt to improve the options available.

Eight signings were made in total, including the transfer deadline day addition of Piero Hincapie on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen.

While plenty of fans will point towards the addition of Viktor Gyokeres up front or the statement signing of Eberechi Eze, there was one potential standout deal.

Amongst the big money spent by Arsenal was one absolute bargain that appears to have gone under the radar.

Cristhian Mosquera’s deal is the bargain of the summer transfer window for Arsenal

Arsenal spent some big money during the window, including the £51 million signing of Martin Zubimendi, £52 million shelled out for Noni Madueke, £55 million for Viktor Gyokeres and up to £67.5 million for Eberechi Eze.

While they all seemed like good deals aimed at improving the team, the addition of Cristhian Mosquera may prove to be the best value of them all.

Arsenal paid just £13 million to land the 21-year-old from Valencia, who signed a five-year deal with the option of another year.

Mosquera has made two appearances already for the Gunners and has settled in particularly well in those early moments.

One highlight so far has been Mosquera’s performance against Liverpool, where he did well to adjust, considering the early injury to William Saliba.

Given his age, current ability and the potential to grow even further, the fee seems to be extremely low, all things considered.

With all the big deals happening at Arsenal and across the Premier League, it feels like a move that isn’t really being spoken about.

However, much like Jakub Kiwior’s transfer, it could prove to be a shrewd deal that results in some quality performances and even the possibility of profit at the end of it.

Arsenal must find more value in the market to improve

Arsenal’s summer transfer business is impressive, and the squad is set up to succeed across multiple competitions now.

However, not every summer is going to be like this one, with over £250 million spent.

The reality is that the Gunners will have to find some value in the market, signing those who are undervalued or have great potential to kick on and be worth much more.

Mosquera is a perfect example of this, and there will be many more to come.

With Arsenal’s biggest sales still looking quite low compared to their rivals, it’s clear that trading has to improve on the whole.

Finding that value, buying and selling at the right time, is crucial, so landing a bargain or two has to be on the agenda for the transfer windows ahead.
