Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are not competing for the same things, but fans would still love it if Mikel Arteta spoils one of Spurs’ plans.

The two North London clubs have shared a fierce rivalry for decades. They don’t like each other, and the fact that Arsenal are doing better than them must be really painful for those associated with Tottenham.

Spurs have had a shocking season so far. They are currently 11th in the table and have won just one of their last seven games in all competitions.

Tottenham are looking at the January transfer window to bolster their squad, and they have made an offer to one player. We think Arsenal can solve a problem of their own if they hijack that deal.

Arsenal should hijack Tottenham’s move to sign Jonathan David

Jonathan David has been linked with a move to Arsenal and several other Premier League clubs in the past.

The Canada international has entered the final year of his contract at Lille, and the expectation is that he will leave the French club in the summer on a free transfer.

However, Sport reveal that Tottenham have made an important financial offer to David to lure him in, and Spurs want this deal done in January.

The report claims that Barcelona are also keen to sign David, who has already contributed to 20 goals in all competitions this season – 17 goals and three assists.

The fact that David will have just six months left on his contract in January suggests that he will be available for a bargain fee – the winter window will be Lille’s last chance to get any money for him.

Tottenham, if the report is to be believed, have made their move, but we think Arsenal should push Spurs away and sign him.

The Gunners’ ability to offer him Champions League football should be more attractive to the Canadian.

Jonathan David would solve Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus problem

Gabriel Jesus is really struggling at Arsenal – this has been the case for over a year now.

The Brazil international looked really sharp early in pre-season, and every Arsenal fan was hoping that he would get back to his best. But, Jesus looks nothing like the player he once was.

Arsenal need to move Jesus on in the January transfer window, and we think David would be the perfect short-term replacement for the former Manchester City man.

Like the Brazil international, David can play anywhere across the front three and float around during games. He is good with his back to goal and can run in behind too, making him a much better option.

The most important difference between David and Jesus is that the former is so much more clinical.

The Brazilian, since joining Arsenal in 2022, has scored 20 goals in all competitions. In the same period, David has managed 69 goals for Lille, which is absolutely incredible.

Signing David now for a bargain fee would instantly solve Arsenal’s Jesus problem, and he could prove to be the difference in the title race.
