Arsenal will have a number of players returning from loan spells this summer.
Reiss Nelson will be allowed to leave Arsenal on a permanent deal following his time at fellow Premier League club Fulham, subject to his recovery from hamstring surgery.
Fabio Vieira’s limited opportunities at Arsenal mean that he is also likely to depart the Emirates Stadium with the likes of Martin Odegaard and Ethan Nwaneri now ahead of him in the pecking order.
Another returning loan star Albert Sambi Lokonga has extended his Arsenal contract, however, there is an expectation that he will also depart the club.
There has been talk that Mikel Arteta would like to sign a goalkeeper to provide competition for David Raya and the Gunners have one returning from a successful loan spell in La Liga…

Arsenal should sell Karl Hein this summer
Karl Hein will return to Arsenal this summer having had a successful loan spell with Spanish outfit Real Valladolid.
Despite Valladolid finishing bottom of La Liga, Hein was one of their most consistent performers and earned plaudits for a number of his displays.
Hein was the star against Nicolas Pepe back in October when he earned the ‘MVP’ award against Pepe’s Villareal side.
| Karl Hein’s Real Valladolid record this season | Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets |
| Hein | 32 | 70 | 5 |
However, with the goalkeeper’s transfer value at its highest it has ever been, the Gunners would be wise to cash in on Hein now before spending another season out on loan or even on the bench for Arteta.
Andrea Berta is desperate to balance the books this summer whilst securing much-needed firepower up top and Hein’s sale would help to do that. He is currently valued at £2.5m as per Transfermarkt.
Arsenal should not spend big on a goalkeeper this summer
Joan Garcia was the club’s number one choice to provide competition to Raya, however, the Spanish star now looks set to join Barcelona.
Arsenal have alternative options for Garcia but Berta must resist laying out a significant transfer fee for a back-up goalkeeper as the priority needs to be other positions.
The Gunners are crying out for a centre forward and an explosive winger in order to help end their trophy drought next season.
Fans are being patient with the process of building a successful side however, that patience would soon run out if the club sign a back-up goalkeeper and neglect the glaring issues once again.
