As Arsenal prepare for a busy summer transfer window ahead, Andrea Berta will be keen not to repeat the mistakes made by his predecessor, Edu Gaspar.

The Gunners are looking at a busy few months ahead, with Mikel Arteta set to be bolstered by some big additions in the market.

A new striker is on the radar at Arsenal, with a missed opportunity last summer to bring in the clinical centre-forward they need.

Instead, defensive and midfield reinforcements were made, with the only forward signing coming in the form of Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea.

In the months since, Raheem Sterling has struggled for any kind of form or consistent game time, with Arteta favouring others at Arsenal ahead of him.

With it now seeming a clear transfer mistake to bring in the 30-year-old, the Gunners now risk repeating that in signing another Chelsea transfer flop.

Arsenal linked with Christopher Nkunku transfer alongside Premier League rivals

Arsenal are looking to bolster their forward ranks over the summer, with a striker and a winger set out as a priority in the market.

Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with a transfer to Arsenal as a main option to fit the centre-forward position, but may not be the only one on the club’s radar.

That’s because, according to The Sun, Arsenal are among a host of Premier League clubs monitoring a move for Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku.

The French international has also been gaining interest from Liverpool, Manchester United, West Ham, PSG, and Atletico Madrid.

Nkunku’s struggles at Chelsea have been well-documented since he made the £52million switch from RB Leipzig.

From being the Golden Boot winner in the Bundesliga to missing out on the squad altogether with the Blues, he is a player who faces an uncertain future.

While Arsenal have been linked with a potential switch, it could prove to be something of a mistake.

Arsenal must avoid Raheem Sterling repeat with Christopher Nkunku transfer

Arsenal’s success in the transfer market when it comes to picking up talent who have been discarded by their club has been mixed.

The signings of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jorginho have been examples of that policy working with Premier League clubs.

However, the loan signing of Raheem Sterling has been one that simply hasn’t worked out for the Gunners.

That has been underlined by his lack of starts and goal involvements over an underwhelming spell.

Given those struggles, Arsenal may be best to avoid a move for Christopher Nkunku, who has suffered a similar fate at Chelsea.

While Nkunku has shown some goal-scoring form compared to Sterling, it has largely been in cup competitions.

The 27-year-old’s struggles to be a regular for Chelsea show that Arsenal simply must avoid a deal altogether.
