Arsenal’s next Thierry Henry is literally asking to be signed

Arsenal aren’t active in the January transfer window, but judging by recent attacking displays, they perhaps should be.

Arsenal are looking ahead to the summer, with Julian Alvarez linked as one option to improve Mikel Arteta’s attack.

The Gunners thought they’d recruited their answer to a seasoned goalscorer in Viktor Gyokeres, but with only five Premier League goals to his name, that’s not been the case.

It leaves Arsenal with a lot of decisions to make in the summer, but some fans are wondering, why wait when the January window is open now?

Andrea Berta could stun the Premier League by signing a player who has been on Arsenal’s watchlist previously, a player who, at present, isn’t playing as much as he deserves.

Arsenal need to sign Bradley Barcola

Arsenal looked at signing Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, and right now, the winger’s minutes suggest that he’s crying out for a new challenge.

Despite only handing the winger 926 Ligue 1 minutes this season, PSG are understood to be eager to offer the 23-year-old a new deal, something Berta can’t allow to happen.

Arsenal are desperate for a fearless left winger, for which Barcola certainly fits the bill.

As a right-footed left-winger, the Frenchman’s dynamism is just what Arteta’s side is missing, which must prompt Berta to explore the potential of signing the wide man in the near future.

Arsenal aren’t getting anywhere near enough output from their left-siders this season, with Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard conjuring up only six Premier League goals between them.

To compare, Barcola might not be getting the minutes he deserves, but he’s still scored more goals (7) in Ligue 1 than the Arsenal trio combined back in England.

The Champions League-winning forward could be the answer to Arteta’s left-wing issues, and Berta should therefore waste no time exploring a deal.

Bradley Barcola has been compared to Thierry Henry

If Barcola’s comparison to Arsenal’s current options isn’t enough to convince fans that this would be a tremendous signing, then his comparison to Thierry Henry will.

Former France international Olivier Kapo once compared Barcola to Thierry Henry, saying that his goalscoring ways are similar to Henry’s, which is saying something.

“He has success in front of goal, this ease, a bit like Thierry Henry. He can shoot on the ground, in the air. In one-on-one, he will try to hit the ball. It’s a talent that must be supported.”

So, there it is, Arsenal could sign their next Henry if they managed to successfully swoop for Barcola, whose future at PSG remains uncertain, and whose suitability for the Gunners is clear.
