Forget Alexander Isak, Arsenal should be worried about Liverpool’s latest £70m transfer move

Arsenal are intent on accumulating a squad that is strong enough and deep enough to claim a major trophy next season.

Title rivals Liverpool have moved their interest from Alexander Isak to Hugo Ekitike in their own search for a striker. While Arsenal fans are worried about Isak, a move Ekitike could be even more detrimental for the Gunners.

Liverpool could beat Arsenal in the race for Rodrygo

Liverpool would have had to pay in the region of £130m if they wanted to persuade Newcastle United to part ways with Isak.

It is believed that Eintracht Frankfurt are willing to complete a deal for Ekitike around the £80m mark, meaning Liverpool would be saving close to £50m in their quest for a centre forward.

Liverpool have also opened preliminary talks with Real Madrid over a move for Arsenal target Rodrygo and could use the money they saved on Ekitike to help formulate a deal.

Real Madrid are talking to Rodrygo about his future and should it be agreed he can leave the Spanish giants, the race is on between the Gunners and Arne Slot’s side.

Arsenal may have to rely on a number of player sales in order to fund a move for the Brazilian, by which, Liverpool could have already got their man.

There are a number of players in the squad that the Gunners are looking to move on this summer but some of the sales pose challenges for Berta.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is allowed to leave the Emirates this summer but despite interest from the Premier League and Serie A, his high wages are proving to be a stumbling block.

Fulham want to sign Reiss Nelson but it is believed the Cottagers are only interested in another loan deal for the winger.

Arsenal are asking for £20m for Fabio Vieira and former coach Carlos Cuesta is interested in bringing the Portuguese playmaker to Parma.
