How Kai Havertz’s injury return date impacts Eberechi Eze’s role in Arsenal vs Wolves

Mikel Arteta revealed that Kai Havertz will return to action soon from injury, which has the clock ticking for Eberechi Eze to impress.

Havertz’s return has been a great boost for Arsenal, but not necessarily for Eze, who was already finding it testing to compete with Martin Odegaard for the number 10 spot.

When it became apparent that Havertz and Odegaard’s injury layoffs would overlap, there was a gap for Eze to exploit and impress Arteta, but he’s not achieved that…yet.

Next up for Arsenal in the Premier League come Wolves, who present Eze with the chance to make his presence known ahead of the North London Derby.

Kai Havertz injury return date means Eberechi Eze must impress against Wolves

Eze is only 33 games into his Arsenal career, but there is a feeling of a last-chance saloon for the playmaker when it comes to the upcoming Wolves clash.

Arteta absolutely loves Havertz, and feels the same about Odegaard, two players who are arguably ahead of Eze in the attacking midfield pecking order.

When Arteta shared an injury update ahead of Wolves, he revealed that both Odegaard and Havertz could return to face Spurs.

The update gave Eze a push into the action at Molineux, as it’s very clear that if the summer signing wants to repeat his heroics against Tottenham, he has to perform against Wolves.

Fortunately, Eze will be confident after his two assists against Wigan, so he will see the ticking clock as a chance to remind Arteta why he signed him in the summer.

It could be that the remainder of Eze’s chances of gametime this season could be partially decided against Wolves, as if the midfielder puts on another disappointing show, the Arsenal manager’s patience could run out.

We just saw Arteta hook Eze at half-time at Brentford because of how poor he was, so what he produces at Molineux will be under the microscope.

Eberechi Eze’s record against Wolves is impressive

For Eze, there’s no greater opportunity to impress his boss, as when it comes to facing Wolves, he’s a master.

While at Crystal Palace, the Englishman faced the Old Gold seven times in the Premier League, and in that time, he scored five goals.

Wolves won’t be eager to welcome Eze to Molineux, given his record against the club, but this time, they should expect an even higher level from the Arsenal star.

If Eze wants to stand out ahead of Havertz and Odegaard, he needs to get in Arteta’s good books before the pair return from injury.
