Arsenal have been linked with several strikers ahead of the summer transfer window, and may actually want to follow Manchester United’s example.
Whilst Erik ten Hag’s side are not currently a beacon of success, one of their bright spots in recent months has been Rasmus Hojlund, who joined for a huge fee this summer.
The striker initially struggled, with it clear that he is a long-term purchase, but he is now firing, and has scored 13 goals this season with six in his last five league games.
They signed Hojlund instead of a more proven option in Harry Kane, and with Arsenal perhaps wanting a bit more firepower upfront, they have been linked with older attackers such as Ivan Toney, and younger prospects such as Benjamin Sesko.
If Arsenal want to follow United’s example in securing a young striker with bags of potential like Hojlund, they may need to look no further than their own academy, in starlet Mika Biereth.
Arsenal have their own Hojlund in Mika Biereth
Like Hojlund, Biereth is a 21-year-old Danish striker, born just days after the United forward.
Development is not linear, particularly when it comes to strikers, but Biereth is currently on the right path, as he is thriving out on loan.
The attacker spent the first half of the season at Motherwell before he was recalled, much to their disappointment, and he then moved to Austrian side Sturm Graz.
He has had a lightning start at his new club, with whom Hojlund also had a loan spell in the past, and has already scored four times in his first six appearances, including in the Europa Conference League.
Hojlund scored 12 times in 21 games at Sturm Graz, and Biereth is already on his way to bettering this total.
Can Biereth earn a chance at Arsenal?

The striker has admitted that it will not be easy for him to earn his dream opportunity at the Emirates, particularly if Arsenal end up signing a top striker.
Biereth’s strong physical traits and finishing ability may make him well-suited to Mikel Arteta’s system, but even if his loan this season goes well, he may not be ready just yet to join a title-challenging side.
He would likely face similar struggles to those Hojlund faced at the start of this season, but with more competition and extra pressure at Arsenal, given that they are competing at the top, another loan with more regular minutes could be the best scenario for him.
If he does well at a higher level next season, then a decision will need to be made on whether he will be ready as a 22-year-old to lead the line for the Gunners in 2025.
