Arsenal are set to host Sevilla in a Champions League group stage clash on Wednesday evening.
Arsenal will welcome Sevilla to the Emirates Stadium tomorrow knowing that a win could secure their progress to the knockout rounds.
Mikel Arteta will likely field a strong starting XI. He will want his side to bounce back from their Premier League defeat against Newcastle United on Saturday and make a statement.
Arsenal predicted starting XI
David Raya
David Raya has been Arteta’s first choice ‘keeper in this competition so far this season. If the Gunners qualify for the next stage of the tournament with group stage games to spare then expect Aaron Ramsdale to make his Champions League bow then.
Takehiro Tomiyasu
Ben White has looked a little jaded in recent weeks and was taken off at St James’ Park with Takehiro Tomiyasu shuffling over to take up his place at right-back. We expect the Japanese ace to play that role from the start on Wednesday.
William Saliba
The Frenchman is a titanic figure at the back for Arsenal. Arteta will need him for this match.
Gabriel Magalhaes
Gabriel Magalhaes produced an “outstanding” performance against Newcastle, according to some. Others may have been less generous in their review of the Brazilian on Tyneside.
Some may expect Jakub Kwior to be given a run out in his place, but we predict that Gabriel will keep his starting spot. He will need to be at his best against Sevilla.
Oleksandr Zinchenko
Oleksandr Zinchenko did not start at St James’ Park. However, at home against Sevilla, when Arteta will be expecting his side to have plenty of the ball, the Ukrainian is the perfect player to turn to.
Jorginho
With Thomas Partey still injured, Jorginho will keep his place at the base of the midfield.
Kai Havertz
Club captain Martin Odegaard is unlikely to be fit to start against the Spanish side. Arsenal fans liked what they saw from Kai Havertz against Newcastle, but will still want the German to step his game up to another level.
Declan Rice
The £105 million man is undroppable.
Bukayo Saka
Arteta doesn’t seem to trust Reiss Nelson enough to start him in big games, which means Bukayo Saka is almost certain to be amongst the starting XI again for this match.
Leandro Trossard
A tight call between the Belgian and Gabriel Martinelli, but Arteta needs to rotate and rest his key players whenever he can.
Eddie Nketiah
Without Gabriel Jesus to call on, Eddie Nketiah should lead the line again. Fans will be hoping for the version of Nketiah that steamrollered Sheffield United, rather than the one that went missing on Tyneside.
