Three players who could still leave Arsenal this week ahead of deadline day

With only a short amount of time until deadline day on Wednesday, there could still be some high profile departures at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been very quiet this month as a result of all of their summer spending.

Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber all arrived at the Emirates for big fees, with David Raya initially arriving on loan.

And perhaps Arsenal may still chase a deal before this week’s deadline, if they are able to free up some funds.

So with that in mind Arsenal Insider have looked at three players who could still leave the club this week.

Three players who could still leave Arsenal before deadline day

We’ll start with one of the most rumoured names, Cedric Soares.

The 32-year-old right-back hasn’t played a significant role for Arteta for quite some time now, and simply looks to be running down his contract.

There is said to be considerable interest from Turkey for Cedric, with Galatasaray thought to want the defender permanently.

And with that in mind, Arsenal would surely be happy to clear his dormant £75k-a-week from the wage bill this month.

It’s quite telling that Arsenal are considering a move for a versatile defender before the deadline day, and yet Cedric hasn’t come into Arteta’s thoughts.

Marquinhos needs another loan move

20-year-old Brazilian winger Marquinhos returned to the club from his Ligue 1 loan with Nantes towards the start of the window.

That move wasn’t proving fruitful for the forward who is struggling to show that he has what it takes to succeed in North London.

And whilst it seems he’ll head out on loan before deadline day, Marquinhos perhaps wouldn’t be missed if he left Arsenal altogether.

Signing the Brazilian hasn’t been a failure by any means, but he’s never going to hit the heights of Gabriel Martinelli.

Mohamed Elneny needs to play football

Although not often linked with a departure this month, popular figure Mohamed Elneny would still benefit from a move away.

Having successfully returned from his injury, the 31-year-old needs to play regular football again.

Perhaps Arteta’s project has now moved beyond the midfielder, despite all of his qualities, and he is probably best placed to seek a new home.

Elneny will always remain a fan favourite around North London, but he’s very far down the pecking order at this point.

Of course, fans can track all of Arsenal’s January ins and outs here.

And with just two days to go, many will be hoping that a surprise is still in store
