Arsenal have secured their first signing of the summer and many more are set to follow.
Arsenal confirmed the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea in what is Andrea Berta’s first deal of his tenure at the Emirates Stadium.
Martin Zubimendi is expected to follow Arrizabalaga in arriving imminently at the Gunners, whilst Arsenal are also set to sign Christian Norgaard from Brentford.
Berta is acting differently to Edu Gaspar and has shown promising signs of decisiveness in his actions so far. However, Mikel Arteta has just proven that he still is a major factor when it comes to convincing players to join Arsenal’s project.

Mikel Arteta convinces Cristhian Mosquera to make Arsenal move during phone call
Arteta wants to bolster defensive options this summer and Arsenal are in talks to sign Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia.
Valencia have offered Mosquera a new contract in an attempt to fend off interest from the Gunners but a phone call from Arteta himself appears to have swayed the young defender into wanting to move to North London.
As per journalist Alejandro Dominguez for Valencia Capitales, Arteta has persuaded Mosquera that Arsenal’s long-term project is further down the line than Valencia and that he can be a big part of the club’s future.

The Gunners haven’t won a trophy since 2020 but have been Premier League runners-up in three successive seasons and reached the Champions League semi-final last season.
The 21-year-old defender would add considerable depth to Arteta’s options at the back and has time on his side to be developed and moulded into playing the Arsenal way.
Mikel Arteta’s pull is good news for Arsenal’s pursuit of Rodrygo and Eberechi Eze
Mosquera wants to compete with William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes and whilst his signature would give the Gunners outstanding strength in depth at the back, it is forward options that fans are demanding.
However, if Arteta can sell the Gunners project to Mosquera despite having Saliba and Gabriel standing in the way of his development, it bodes well for the club’s pursuit of Rodrygo and Eberechi Eze.
| Statistics last season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Rodrygo | 51 | 14 | 10 |
| Eze | 43 | 14 | 11 |
Should both players also make the move to North London, there will also be huge competition for places in their positions but Arteta is able to show targets the bigger picture.
These signings can be the difference that get Arsenal over the line to a major trophy next season and the likes of Rodrygo and Eze can put themselves in Gunners folklore very early in their careers.
