Winners and losers from a Gabriel Jesus Arsenal transfer exit including Bukayo Saka and Viktor Gyokeres impact

Arsenal are looking at a number of potential sales this summer in order to offset the near £200m spent so far.

Viktor Gyokeres is set to emulate Thierry Henry and take the number 14 shirt at Arsenal to become the club’s sixth signing of the summer.

He joins the likes of Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke through the door and with Andrea Berta still keen for more additions, player sales now become imperative.

Berta is looking to sell Gabriel Jesus in order to balance the books and Arsenal Insider has taken a look at the impact any potential sale of the Brazilian would have on the squad.

Winners from a potential Gabriel Jesus transfer exit from Arsenal

Andrea Berta

With Jesus earning a mammoth £265k a-week and the Gunners intent on adding even more firepower to their attacking repertoire this summer, getting the Brazilian off the books would be a huge coup for Berta.

Jesus is currently recovering from a knee injury and there are fears that his current fitness state would scupper any transfer away from the Emirates.

However, there is strong interest from clubs in Brazil and around Europe, a loan deal with an option to buy has been mooted.

With Jesus departing, Berta could use the money from any fee received and open up significant room on the wage bill.

Kai Havertz

Kai Havertz is a key player for Arsenal and someone that is thought of very highly by Mikel Arteta. However, the transfer business this summer will have given him food for thought.

The pending arrival of Viktor Gyokeres means that there is real competition for the centre forward position at the club now.

Jesus is a different type of player to both Havertz and Gyokeres but with his departure, it would mean a straight shoot-out between the German and the Swede as to who leads the line.

Viktor Gyokeres

Gyokeres is coming to Arsenal with the mindset that he is the man to fire the club back to glory, but there are already players at the club who believe they can also achieve this.

As mentioned, Havertz will be confident that he can keep his place as Arteta’s first choice centre forward and with Jesus out the door, Gyokeres is the main competitor for that role.

There could also be a scenario where Havertz and Gyokeres are partnered together in the side and that possibility increases should Jesus leave North London.

Losers from a potential Gabriel Jesus transfer exit from Arsenal

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jesus have enjoyed some incredible success together during their careers and quite simply, the Ukrainian would be sad to see his good friend depart.

They had unprecedented success at Manchester City with multiple trophy wins, but also made an instant improvement to the Arsenal side when they arrived in 2022.

Zinchenko faces an uncertain future at Arsenal himself and there could be a scenario where both players depart the club this summer.

Mikel Arteta

Arteta has also enjoyed an excellent relationship with Jesus over his coaching and managerial career – the Spaniard will be devastated at how it has ended for the Brazilian.

Arsenal fans will never forget the impact that Jesus made following his arrival from Manchester City and only injury prevented him from carrying on that form.

There is serious pressure on Arteta to win a trophy this season and unfortunately, the club can no longer afford to take risks on a player that is hampered with injuries.

Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka is a player that has enjoyed playing alongside Jesus since his move to the Emirates and the Hale End star will now be looking to strike a new partnership up top.

The pair were directly involved in eight goals in 73 appearances together and the duo both have a low centre of gravity that makes it so hard for defenders to track.

Saka will not be the only player sad to see Jesus leave as his infectious work rate and personality has lit up North London over the last three years.

The sad fact is it just hasn’t happened often enough and with the Gunners desperate for success this campaign, allowing Jesus to depart seems a sensible decision.
