With the August transfer window already approaching its climax, there’s still a lot for Edu and his team to achieve to ensure that Arsenal are positioned to win the league.

Mikel Arteta fielded a very familiar Arsenal eleven to the one who finished last season against Wolverhampton Wanderers, a game the Gunners won fairly comfortably – even if they did rely on David Raya’s brilliance.

And whilst the early signs from Arsenal are positive, it’s hard to conclude right now that Arteta’s side have significantly improved since last season.

It’s too simplistic to suggest that can merely be helped with one or two more signings this week and next, but it certainly won’t hurt.

Arsenal are close to signing Mikel Merino, but they would still definitely benefit from the arrival of a forward too, someone who can challenge on both the left and right wing.

That being said, Arsenal have been linked with Raphinha this summer, a player who’s future still appears slightly uncertain at Barcelona.

And judging by his activity on Instagram, the winger, who joined Barca for £55m from Leeds in 2022, is still keeping up to date on all things Arsenal.

Arsenal target Raphinha sends message to Gabriel Magalhaes after PFA award

If Arsenal plan to pursue a move for Raphinha in what remains of this summer window, then it may be a good idea to use Gabriel Magalhaes’ relationship with his compatriot.

Five Arsenal players were named in the PFA’s Team of the Year on Tuesday evening: Raya, William Saliba, Gabriel, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

And whilst many Arsenal players were praising Odegaard, Gabriel also received a one-word message from Raphinha on his Instagram post.

Gabriel uploaded a photo of himself suited and booted with his award, alongside a caption of: “A massive honour to be in the Team of the season!! Thank you God!!!”

Raphinha then replied alongside a few Arsenal players saying: “Braboooo”, along with two emojis.

Evidently, Arsenal could have an inside man if they plan a late attempt to sign Raphinha, who they were reportedly preparing a bid for in recent weeks.

Raphinha was offered to Arsenal earlier this summer amid Barcelona’s struggles with FFP, and the Gunners could certainly do a lot worse.

The 27-year-old is Premier League proven and Arsenal need a left-footer who can emulate Saka when he’s missing or simply needs a rest.
