Arsenal’s season is not even over and done with yet but there are already eyes on the summer transfer window from some.

A new midfielder and a winger are believed to be the highest priorities for Mikel Arteta.

Whether or not that means certain players leave, remains to be seen. However, we are already seeing a number of players linked with a move to The Emirates.

One of those is Bayern Munich midfielder, Leon Goretzka. Goretzka is believed to be open to a move to Arsenal and now, over in Germany, he has said a final goodbye to Bayern Munich.

Arsenal posted this immediately after Manchester City won the FA Cup. Coincidence or mind games?

Goretzka is just one of a number of midfielders being linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

Sandro Tonali of Newcastle has plenty of admirers, while Nottingham Forest star Elliott Anderson has also had a standout campaign in the Midlands.

However, Goretzka is a more experienced name with seven Bundesliga titles to his name and is on the move this summer.

Now, he’s said an emotional goodbye to Munich after lifting title number seven alongside his teammates.

With Goretzka leaving on a free and having plenty of life in the tank at just 31, the German is an intriguing option for the Gunners.

Could Goretzka come in as a Christian Norgaard upgrade?

Most of Arsenal’s signings in recent seasons have worked out well but the addition of Christian Norgaard last summer has been questioned.

Sure, the former Brentford man has been in and around the squad all season and played a key part in terms of his professionalism and being ready when needed.

But the fact is that he isn’t quite at the level of the rest of this Arsenal squad and if they’re going to keep improving, then new additions are needed.

Goretzka, then, is a proven replacement for Norgaard and given he’s available for nothing, is a no-brainer signing.

Yes, some might say that at 31 he is past his best but you can never have too much experience, especially in terms of a serial winner like Goretzka.
