Andrea Berta is looking to shift several players on in his first summer at Arsenal.

The Italian sporting director is eager to get a number of players off the wage bill in N5 in order to pour more money into the transfer kitty.

Arsenal released 20 players earlier this month, including youngsters who featured in the first team last season, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and Jack Henry-Francis.

Jorginho departed for Flamengo a week ago, while Marquinhos completed his £2.5 million transfer to Cruzeiro on Monday afternoon.

Another player’s departure has now been confirmed.

Celtic announce signing of former Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney

Arsenal announced Tierney’s exit last week, with the left-back sending a heart-warming goodbye message to the Gunners supporters.

The Scotsman made 144 appearances for Arsenal across six seasons at the North London club, and became a fan favourite for his consistent performances.

His imminent return to Celtic has been widely reported, and now it’s been officially confirmed by the Glaswegian club.

The Scottish giants announced the free signing of their academy graduate Tierney on Tuesday afternoon, posting a picture of the defender in the Bhoys’ new kit, with the caption, ‘He’s home.’

Tierney returns to his boyhood club six years after leaving, looking to enjoy as much success as he did in his first period at Celtic Park, when he won seven trophies.

The 28-year-old made 170 appearances for Celtic before departing for North London.

Oleksandr Zinchenko should follow Kieran Tierney out the door at Arsenal

Tierney was a great servant for Arsenal and should enjoy a successful end to his career back in Scottish football.

The Berta exodus should continue in the left-back spot, with Arsenal needing to find a new home for Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Zinchenko, whose signing coincided with Tierney losing his place at the Emirates, became a peripheral figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad last season.

The Ukrainian had been an excellent player for the Gunners, but Arsenal evolved past him as they improved.

Zinchenko has been offered to AC Milan, and the Gunners ought to be offering him to several other clubs on the continent, in an attempt to cash in on the talented full-back.
