Agent says his ‘powerful’ player will definitely not join Arsenal

Arsenal’s dreams of signing Francesco Pio Esposito from Inter Milan seem to be over.

The Gunners signed Viktor Gyokeres last year, but they are still expected to be on the market for a new centre-forward this summer.

That is because Gabriel Jesus is expected to leave the club when he enters the final year of his contract in July, while the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard could be moved on as well.

Esposito has been reported as a big target for Arsenal in recent weeks, but his agent has put an end to hopes of a move.

Esposito is one of the best young strikers in Europe right now.

The Italian is still not a regular starter for Inter Milan, but some of his performances for the Nerazzurri have been exceptional.

A ‘powerful‘ presence at the top end of the pitch, Esposito even troubled Arsenal star Cristhian Mosquera during the Champions League clash between the two sides earlier this season.

That is perhaps why Arsenal have been interested in signing the 20-year-old, but his agent, Mario Giuffredi, has made it clear that he will not be heading to the Emirates Stadium anytime soon.

He said, as per Sport Mediaset: “Arsenal on Pio Esposito? He’s doing well at Inter, he’s in love with Inter and he’ll be the Nerazzurri’s future for the next 10 years.”

Signing Esposito was always going to be a long shot for Arsenal as he had extended his contract in April last year.

That deal does not expire until the summer of 2030, which means Inter Milan would’ve been in a strong position anyway if it ever got to transfer negotiations.

It remains to be seen who Andrea Berta will go after now.

The only striker Arsenal should sign this summer is Julian Alvarez

Esposito would’ve been a great signing for Arsenal – for the present as well as the future – but he isn’t really the profile they need.

The Gunners have big forwards in Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and even Mikel Merino already. They need a like-for-like replacement for Jesus if he leaves this summer.

Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez, who has been heavily linked with Arsenal, would be the perfect fit before the start of the new season.

The Argentine can play anywhere across the front four, can score a variety of goals, and he has Premier League experience under his belt already.

Alvarez is the only striker Arsenal should target this summer. If they can’t get him, they should focus on signing a superstar on the left flank instead.
