There are plenty of moving parts in the transfer window, some of which have seen some former players move around.

Even within the current squad, Mikel Arteta is having to be ruthless with which stars stay and which leave to create new opportunities to strengthen.

Kieran Tierney is set to join Celtic, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is linked with a transfer exit as one of a few possible moves.

Before them came some moves away from Arsenal, including a few free agent exits, with one star from the previous summer finally finding a club.

Ex-Arsenal star Cedric Soares set to join Sao Paulo

After four years at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal let Cedric Soares leave the club as a free agent in the summer of 2024.

The right-back made 64 appearances for the Gunners, while his spell included a short spell on loan at Fulham.

Cedric struggled for minutes and since his release, he has yet to find a club until right now.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the defender is set to join Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo on a short-term deal.

The defender has signed all the documents, which means he is set for an announcement ahead of some big matches.

Cedric Soares could face Neymar on Sao Paulo debut

Upon his arrival at Sao Paulo, Cedric could well make his debut against Santos on February 1, 2025.

In which case, that could see him come up against Neymar, who is seemingly edging towards a switch to his old club.

The Brazilian has suffered some injury problems at Al Hilal ahead of his potential move, so it remains to be seen if he will be available.

However, it could be quite the test for Cedric, who hasn’t featured in competitive action since leaving Arsenal.

The Portuguese defender had shown some clear quality at times for the Gunners, even landing a national team call-up during his time at the club.

Whether he can reach those levels again at Sao Paulo remains to be seen, but it’s a huge opportunity for him to secure a longer stay at his new club.
