Arsenal remain active in the transfer market with just a week to go before the window slams shut.

Arsenal confirmed the signing of Eberechi Eze before their 5-0 victory over Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium, however, their business may not be done.

Piero Hincapie is a target for Arsenal as the Gunners seek a left-sided defender in order to complete Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Andrea Berta is also targeting the departures of up to six first-team players and the club have revealed they are ‘shocked’ one star hasn’t left already.

Arsenal ‘surprised’ that Reiss Nelson hasn’t left the club this summer

Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Highbury Squad’ podcast, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that the Gunners are ‘shocked’ that Reiss Nelson is still at the club.

Fulham were advancing on a deal for Nelson but Jacobs has explained that the deal ‘died down’ at the last minute. It is not yet known whether the Cottagers will return with their interest before the deadline.

Jacobs stated: “You’ve got Nelson, which felt quite advanced to Fulham and then it died down a little bit. But it wouldn’t surprise me if they return.

“It’s not entirely dead that deal and it’s a surprise to some from the Arsenal point of view that he hasn’t already gone to Fulham earlier in the window.”

Nelson has been described as ‘excellent’ in the past but will now surely feel he is too far down the pecking order to get any minutes in the Arsenal first-team this season.

Alex Iwobi has been texting Nelson to convince him to join Fulham once again after the winger’s loan spell was cut short last season due to a hamstring injury.

What transfer business could Arsenal complete before the deadline?

Player sales are the main focus with up to five players potentially leaving Arsenal before the September 1st deadline.

The hope is that the club can raise around £80m with the sales of the likes of Nelson, Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Fabio Vieira is another player that looks set to depart North London, although Stuttgart have ended their interest in the player after deeming the asking price too high.

Should Berta manage to raise those funds, it is likely Arsenal will complete a deal for Hincapie and perhaps even a last minute surprise in the left wing area.
