Arsenal are running out of time to complete their transfer business this summer, and have not recruited an attacking player.
Arsenal held interest in Benjamin Sesko and Nico Williams amongst others to strengthen the forward line, but both players elected to stay with their clubs.
Mikel Arteta may be keen on a winger to add speed and depth to his attack, but with Williams out of the picture, the question remains over who he could target to play in this role, and add a game-changing quality to his squad.
The ideal attacker would be a speedy winger who could play on both sides, adding flair and a goal threat, and there are now links to a viable alternative to Williams, who was otherwise the perfect fit.

Arsenal linked with Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman
It has been reported that Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman is on the radar of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City this summer.
There is plenty of interest in Lookman, who has asked to be left out of the Atalanta squad for their upcoming game against Lecce.
Lookman was previously credited with a £51m price tag, but this could change if he pushes for a move. The winger previously played for Everton, but is now thriving in Italy, and he made history as he scored a remarkable hattrick in the Europa League final alongside Sead Kolasinac.
Ian Wright has praised Ademola Lookman, he could be perfect for Arsenal
Lookman has exploded since his Everton days, but even during his time at Goodison Park the Nigerian showed a lot of potential.
“He’s a player the Everton fans can really get behind. He has skill, awareness and pace and made a difference when he came on,” Arsenal legend Ian Wright stated on Match Of The Day after Lookman inspired a victory over Watford in November 2017.
Lookman has played across the front line in recent seasons, and enjoyed a stunning campaign as he scored 17 and assisted 10 times in 45 appearances last season.
Now 26, Lookman could be the ideal solution for Arsenal this summer, and he fits the mould of other Arteta signings as experienced players with the potential to improve.
Arsenal would need to fight off Liverpool for his signature, but Arteta’s side are in a good place to do so.
They are expected to challenge for major honours and regularly compete in the Champions League for years to come, and can offer Lookman a platform to succeed at the top, whilst Liverpool still face uncertainty in a transitional period.
