The European transfer window closed on Monday, yet Arsenal could still make a major sale in the coming days.

The Gunners were busy throughout the summer, signing eight players and spending in excess of £250 million in the process.

Viktor Gyokeres arrived from Sporting CP for £63 million as one of the marquee additions, while Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and Martin Zubimendi all also signed for more than £50 million.

Andrea Berta was able to shift several players on deadline day, although most of these were loan deals, with the Gunners hardly generating any money through sales.

Besiktas have made an offer for Leandro Trossard

Arsenal’s squad is arguably bloated in attacking areas.

The Gunners have eight forward players to fill three positions, and thus, could arguably do with selling one to ensure squad members aren’t left with too few minutes.

Gabriel Jesus is recovering from an ACL injury and, therefore, likely hasn’t attracted any suitors.

However, Arsenal could sell Leandro Trossard, and it appears they may actually have a chance of doing so, despite the window already closing.

The Turkish transfer window doesn’t close until 12th September and Besiktas are understood to be interested in the Belgian.

According to Sozcu Spor, the Istanbul club have made an offer worth €22 million (£19 million) for Trossard.

Arsenal are currently weighing up the offer, with a response expected soon. It remains to be seen whether the Gunners are open to selling the winger, who was said to be close to agreeing a pay rise at the Emirates.

Arsenal should cash in on Leandro Trossard

Trossard has been described as ‘underrated’ previously, and has certainly been a great servant to Arsenal.

Signed from Brighton for just £27 million in January 2023, the 30-year-old has provided great value for money, scoring 17 goals in all competitions during the 2023/24 season.

However, as shown by the data below, the Belgium international has shown signs of decline in the last two seasons.

Leandro Trossard Statistics

Successful Take-ons per 901.371.34

While his creative numbers remained similar last season compared to the campaign prior, his shot volume declined significantly, as did his expected goals per 90 minutes.

Not as capable at finding himself in dangerous positions inside the box, these numbers are only likely to get worse as he gets older.

Thus, Arsenal should cash in on Trossard while they still can.
