Transfer deadline day is often full of surprises for Arsenal, whether that is related to potential incomings or outgoings.

The Gunners are primed for a bit of a busy one, as Piero Hincapie is closing in on a loan move from Bayer Leverkusen.

Beyond him, Arsenal are looking at sales, as several stars are facing a move away to help balance out the squad available to Mikel Arteta.

Eyes will be peeled on those movements in and out of the Emirates Stadium, but there is plenty more going on elsewhere.

Rivals will be making their moves, but so too will former players.

For one Arsenal player of old, a surprise move is on the cards for deadline day as he looks set for another new challenge.

Fabrizio Romano reveals former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez set for transfer deadline day switch to Sevilla

Plenty of familiar faces will be moving around on transfer deadline day, as Arsenal fans watch on to see what business unfolds.

That includes a surprise move for Alexis Sanchez, who appears to be closing in on a potential transfer of his own.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Chilean international is set to join Sevilla on a one-year deal, with the medical already booked.

It would be the 11th different club of Sanchez’s career, coming seven years after he left Arsenal to join Manchester United.

His most recent spell has been with Serie A side Udinese, where he has struggled to make much of an impact.

The 36-year-old is now set for his second taste of La Liga, having previously spent time at Barcelona from 2011 until 2014.

Arsene Wenger praised Alexis Sanchez during his time at Arsenal

During his four-year stay at the Emirates Stadium, Sanchez was nothing short of an excellent footballer for the club.

Under the stewardship of Arsene Wenger, the playmaker played some of his very best football, creating plenty of the Gunners.

While Sanchez’s move to Man United did somewhat taint his legacy, his time at Arsenal in isolation made him something of an icon.

Speaking in 2017, Wenger said of the forward: “Sanchez is Sanchez. He’s an exceptional footballer.”

There is no sign of him retiring any time soon, even with the peak of his career seemingly behind him, as he looks to bring out every last drop of his talent with a return to La Liga on the cards.
