Arsenal’s latest Premier League disappointment has once again highlighted the importance of their summer transfer window.

Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace was littered with individual errors and whilst one eye will be on the Champions League semi-final, Mikel Arteta knows that his side have not been good enough domestically.

Thomas Partey’s contract talks are an indication that Arsenal believe he can still play a big part for the club in their quest to win the Premier League title.

However, Andrea Berta has decisions to make on a number of other players such as Jorginho and Oleksandr Zinchenko, whilst also having the job of bringing in top talent to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal in pole position to sign Victor Ozhianvuna from Shamrock Rovers

As per the Irish Independent, Arsenal are currently in pole position to land ‘exciting’ 16-year-old talent Victor Ozhianvuna from Shamrock Rovers.

It is believed that it would take a reported seven figure fee for the youngster, who has already made his first-team debut under manager Stephen Bradley.

The Gunners face competition from clubs around England and Europe but are confident that they can lure Ozhianvuna to North London.

David Ornstein revealed Arsenal’s recruitment target was to prioritise the signings of more young talent into their academy and this deal is another sign of that plan coming to fruition.

Victor Ozhianvuna draws comparisons with Myles Lewis-Skelly

Ozhianvuna has made six appearances in the Irish Premier division so far this season and also featured for the club in the UEFA Conference League.

Having made their first-team breakthroughs in the same season, the Irish youngster draws comparisons with Myles Lewis-Skelly for their style of play too.

Ozhianvuna has begun his career playing as a wing-back but is viewed as having a career more centrally in midfield due to his skillset and versatility – much like the current Hale End star.

The emergence of Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri this season has been a real positive for the club and further recruitment of talents such as Ozhianvuna will only further strengthen the Gunners future.
