Arsenal are interested in signing Jonathan David on a free transfer this summer, Arsenal Insider understands.
David is enjoying another productive campaign for Lille, scoring 23 goals across all competitions this season.
This form has prompted interest from a host of top clubs throughout Europe, including Manchester United, Barcelona and Inter Milan.
David has been linked with Arsenal for a while, and the Gunners may finally make their move this summer when the Canadian becomes available on a free transfer.

Arsenal are ‘looking at’ Jonathan David ahead of summer transfer window
Kai Havertz is out for the season with a hamstring injury, and there were questions marks around the German before he sustained this set-back.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus is recovering from an ACL tear and likely won’t feature for the Gunners for some time.
Thus, it’s clear that Arsenal need a new striker, and they’re currently exploring an array of different options.
The likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko have been touted as potential additions, although TBR Football’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey told Arsenal Insider that David is another name the Emirates hierarchy are assessing.
“There have been enquiries from Arsenal, Liverpool and United [for David],” he said.
“They’re assessing the situation. David’s got a lot of options abroad. Barcelona and Inter are the main ones.
“There have been links with West Ham, but that’s not as advanced as some people think. He’s one who Arsenal are looking at.
“[Andrea] Berta is doing a lot of work on a lot of different people and David is one of them.
“We know he’s available on a free. Is he Arsenal’s top option? I’m not so sure at this point. But, they are aware of him.”

Jonathan David’s statistics 2024/25
Scoring more league goals than Isak last season, David would certainly arrive in N5 with an impressive pedigree.
Exceptional at finding himself in dangerous positions in the box and getting on the end of moves, the 25-year-old is a natural goalscorer.
From that point of view, he looks like a good fit for Arsenal, particularly given he’ll be available for nothing.
| David’s Ligue 1 Statistics 2024/25 | |
| Appearances | 27 |
| Goals | 14 |
| Assists | 3 |
| Shots per 90 | 2.16 |
| Expected Goals per 90 | 0.61 |
| Key Passes per 90 | 1.19 |
| Expected Assists per 90 | 0.12 |
| Successful Take-ons per 90 | 0.68 |
However, this is about as far as his suitability to Arsenal goes.
There are question marks about David’s ability to contribute to the build-up, and his poor creative and dribbling numbers reflect that.
Mikel Arteta’s system has significant demands of the striker, and David doesn’t appear to be capable of fulfilling these demands.
If Arsenal do go down this route, you’d imagine it’s to save money to invest heavily in another position.
