Arsenal could face increased competition in the race to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace this summer, as interest steps up in the England international.

As it stands, the Gunners have been particularly active in the market, signing six players so far to bolster the team.

The latest move saw Arsenal sign Viktor Gyokeres, ending the long wait to land a striker, but attention may now turn to a playmaker behind him.

While there has been interest in Xavi Simons, he appears likely to join Chelsea instead, meaning focus may be firmly fixed on Eberechi Eze.

With Arsenal showing plenty of interest in the former Hale End academy star, they could face competition for his signature.

Morgan Gibbs-White’s new contract could cause an Arsenal domino effect for Eberechi Eze

Arsenal have shown interest in Eze as they look at a potential playmaker signing to help bolster their scoring possibilities.

However, they haven’t been alone in their interest, as North London rivals Tottenham have also been in the mix for the Crystal Palace ace.

It did seem as though Spurs had cooled their interest in Eze, instead focusing their attention towards Morgan Gibbs-White.

While they had seemingly triggered his release clause, that deal stalled, and instead, the England international has signed a new contract at Nottingham Forest.

That has seemingly ruled out any chance of Tottenham landing him, which could turn them back towards signing Eze.

For Arsenal, that could be a problem as they continue to find the best way to get a deal over the line that works for all parties.

Eberechi Eze is the final piece of the puzzle for Arsenal’s summer transfer business

With Arsenal already dealing with plenty of problem positions in the team, the move for a playmaker is one that can take them to the next level as a wildcard signing.

The Gunners had problems scoring goals last season, and while a new striker and winger should go a long way to helping solve that, the addition of someone to create chances could make the difference.

Eze may well be the final piece of that puzzle for the summer, with his proven Premier League track record helping him to hit the ground running.

At the same time, it may well take another target from Tottenham, impacting their chances before the season starts.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make that move or not, with some discussions still to be held over transfer prices.
