In the summer, Arsenal were linked with a number of forwards across Europe, the kind of players intended to add a bit of x-factor to Mikel Arteta’s front line.
Ultimately, Arsenal decided to sign Raheem Sterling on deadline day, a move they hadn’t planned at the beginning of the summer.
But when Arsenal’s other options fell through, Sterling was available for an excellent price on loan, a four-time Premier League winner.
However, it remains to be seen whether Arteta will eventually envision a permanent future for the 29-year-old at the Emirates Stadium, a player with a very large wage packet.
Ademola Lookman ‘open’ to a new challenge and his asking price has been slashed
If Arteta doesn’t pursue a permanent move for Sterling, Arsenal were interested in Ademola Lookman in the summer.
The winger has been thriving in the Serie A after leaving England and showcased all of his talent against Arsenal in the Champions League recently, a ‘dangerous’ performance that should have only intensified the Gunners’ intrigue.

That being said, journalist Florian Plettenberg has just shared some interesting news on X in that regard.
According to the journalist, Lookman is open to a new challenge and a January move is possible.
It was reported that Arsenal offered €50m for Lookman in the summer, and according to Plettenberg, the winger could now move for as little as €20m.
He shared: “Ademola Lookman is still open for a new challenge. Understand that a move in winter is possible.
“Atalanta president Percassi blocked a transfer of the 26y/o versatile striker this summer.
“Price tag for a possible move next window: €25-30m. Current contract valid until 2026.”
Ian Wright talked up Ademola Lookman before he faced Arsenal
Speaking before Arsenal faced Atalanta on his podcast, Ian Wright was very complimentary about Lookman back in September.
With respect, Wright was convinced that Lookman would soon be too big for Atalanta, predicting step up in the near future.
Wright said: “We’ve got Ben White on that side, if he’s going to be on that side. And you know what? I’m pleased for him.
“His journey, where he’s gone, what he’s doing now, you could see a big move, you could see a move for him.
“I’d love him to stay there, he’s been so good at Atalanta. The way he’s worked up, all the way from Charlton, all the way to where he is now.
“You’d believe that Atalanta is not his final destination in his mind, as great as it can be for them.
“And it’s not disrespectful, but like he’s got a level of playing now where you can see why people would say, I could, yeah I could use him.”
