A round-up of the latest Arsenal transfer news as the Gunners speak with the agent of an in-demand winger and also advance with their interest in signing a £17m full-back.

Boss Mikel Arteta is keen to improve his Emirates Stadium ranks across the pitch to get their season back on track. Arsenal are fourth in the Premier League table with a five-point deficit to table-toppers Liverpool after 20 games. They have only won one of their last five fixtures.

Attacking options are in particularly high order to help take the strain off top-scorer Bukayo Saka. While Arteta wants new defensive options to add further cover for Ben White at right-back and Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back beyond just Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior.

Arsenal may have to rival Manchester United for the transfer of Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt if Erik ten Hag is still in charge at Old Trafford this summer. Florian Plettenberg notes the defender is now on Ten Hag’s radar following The Athletic naming the Gunners with interest.

Intermediaries will make Arsenal and Chelsea aware of Moise Kean’s availability for a loan as Juventus await the striker’s decision. Sports Lens claims the 23-year-old already has offers to join Atletico Madrid, Fiorentina, Monza or Rennes but is holding out to return to England.

Arsenal are among a clutch of clubs keeping tabs on Angers talent Jean-Matteo Bahoya, per L’Equipe (15/1, 13:14). The 18-year-old midfielder has caught the attention of AC Milan, VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt after a great Ligue 2 term and a January move is possible.

Besiktas are advancing their interest in the transfer of Cedric Soares from Arsenal, according to Record. The Super Lig side are yet to make an official offer but are progressing after hiring Fernando Santos as their manager. He knows Cedric well and admires the 32-year-old lots.
