Arsenal’s injury concerns this season have taken another turn, as the extent of Gabriel Jesus’ blow has come to light.

Jesus was stretchered off against Manchester United as Mikel Arteta watched another of his attackers suffer an injury.

The Brazilian looked in great discomfort as he went down a second time in a short space of time, seeing him taken down the tunnel in distress.

It was a terrible sight to see, as Jesus had worked hard to rediscover his form and now, the 27-year-old looks set for a spell on the sidelines.

Gabriel Jesus injury update and timeframe revealed

Jesus was relishing his new-found form, playing an integral part in the absence of Bukayo Saka and other forwards.

Fears were realised as the striker went down in pain against Man United, with an injury analyst predicting that Jesus had suffered an ACL problem.

Unfortunately, that is the understanding of the diagnosis, as journalist David Ornstein shared that the forward has sustained a ‘suspected ACL rupture’ to his left knee, via The Athletic

It’s the opposing knee to the one he had surgery on only in 2022, telling of the long road that is to come for the Brazil international.

Ornstein noted that ‘further specialist reviews’ are scheduled to properly understand the extent of the injury, in what is a considerable blow for both the player and the Gunners.

What Jesus’ injury means for Arsenal’s transfer plan

Arsenal have been linked to a host of players this winter however, no target looks close to joining Arteta’s project, with no bids to report.

That being said, Ornstein suggested that such could change in the wake of Jesus’ injury, stating that the Gunners are ‘open to doing business’ if the right player is available.

It’s claimed that while the summer window is the ‘greater priority’, Arsenal could be forced into scanning the market for talent, with one route to doing so the clearest.

Having already used their two Premier League loans on Neto and Raheem Sterling, Arteta and co cannot recruit another player from the English top flight to bolster the squad on loan.

That means that looking abroad for a temporary solution is most likely, with The Athletic stating that Arsenal are ‘understood to be doing’ such following Jesus’ blow.

What comes next remains a mystery, with the greatest concern at present being the well-being of Jesus, who has suffered yet another serious injury.
